Reports on Friday morning are that the Chicago Cubs are sending Milton Bradley to the Seattle Mariners for pitcher Carlos Silva and between $6-9 million .
Do you feel the collective exhale from Cubs Nation?
Now, the job of Cubs GM Jim Hendry becomes trying to patch the holes in the roster that have been created by his terrible personnel decisions (Aaron Miles) and poor handling of internal free agents (Rich Harden).
But what's left?
Other reports on Friday are that the Padres are close to a deal with Coco Crisp, which would take another centerfielder off the market at a position the Cubs ...

And with that, the Chicago Cubs just got less crazy and the Seattle Mariners have found a middle of the order hitter Cubs acquire: Carlos Silva, $9 million Mariners acquire: Milton Bradley ************* ************** Cubs Perspective
Finally get rid of Milton Bradley!
Very little upside on return
Carlos Silva stinks
Save $9 million!
Where does he fit on the Cubs roster?
Conclusion: It has come to this. The Cubs were forced to take on one of the worst contracts in baseball just to get Milton Bradley off their hands. On one hand they should be celebrating ...
Chicago area deep dish pizza places beware–Carlos Silva is coming to town!
According to various sources, the Seattle Mariners have traded RHP pitcher Carlos Silva to the Chicago Cubs for OF Milton Bradley. This is essentially a swap of contracts as Silva has two years and $24 million remaining on his deal and Bradley has two years and $21 million remaining on his deal.
This is a heist by Seattle GM Jack Zduriencik.
I know Bradley could be insane. I know Bradley could be a lunatic. And I know he clearly has some issues that go beyond the game of baseball.
But Bradley has ...
Larry Stone of the Seattle Times is reporting that the Chicago Cubs and Seattle Mariners are "on the verge" of trading the disastrous starting pitcher Carlos Silva for the headache that is Milton Bradley.
While Bradley may be a headcase, and a problem wherever he has gone, at least he has been mostly productive when healthy. Silva, on the other hand, has been awful the past two seasons, going 4-15 with a 6.46 ERA in 2008 and 1-3 with an 8.60 ERA in '09.
While their contracts are similar, Silva is owed more money than Bradley. Bradley has $21 million left ...

Various media outlets, including Larry Stone of the Seattle Times and Carrie Muskat of MLB.com, are reporting the Chicago Cubs have realized one of their worst case scenarios.
The Cubs could announce as early as Friday afternoon that they have traded Milton Bradley to the Mariners for pitcher Carlos Silva. Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune is reporting that Seattle will pay the Cubs $9 million as part of the deal.
Silva will bring one of the worst contracts in recent history to Chicago; he signed a four-year, $48 million deal before 2008 and has done nothing since. In his two seasons ...
Sigh. I just finished watching the Red Sox press conference introducing Mike Cameron.
Charming. Charismatic. Humble. Relaxed. You got to see so many of the reasons why managers love Cameron, and what I had been hoping to see over at Clark and Addison sometime this winter.
That said, first off let me say that I was wrong. I didn't think it was possible for the Cubs to let Cameron pass them by. Somewhere, I suspect that Lou Piniella is still muttering things under his breath about it, and perhaps about Jim Hendry as well, but it's done. He ain't coming.
Which begs the ...
I hope Chicago Cubs fans are gearing up for another six months of disappointment, because this winter isn't giving any indication that 2010 will be any better than the season it will follow.
The Cubs closed their 2009 season with one singular goal: Unload Milton Bradley. The marriage was a failure almost immediately, and GM Jim Hendry made it clear when he sent Bradley home for the last few weeks of the season that he couldn't be back in Chicago next year.
Problems arise when you have a single focus, though, and this winter the Cubs have let almost every team in ...
Now that the Cubs' first choice, Mike Cameron, has been signed by the Boston Red Sox, it appears that former Ranger Marlon Byrd is the target of choice for GM Jim Hendry in his ongoing search for a center fielder.
The caveat, of course, is that Hendry has to move Milton Bradley before he can add payroll, so signing Byrd is no sure thing. By the time some team agrees to pay even $2 million of the $21 million owed Bradley, Byrd may be gone.
Or, if a team like the Rays insist on trading Pat Burrell to the Cubs, ...
