Home / April 2011
Yes, I realize it's only April 7, but there are already Red Sox fans out there ready to plunge off bridges. While that may be a bit of an overreaction, some fans of other teams aren't finding much to be optimistic about at this point, either. So what happens as the season progresses and teams fall further and further behind in their respective pennant races? The answer to that is sell, sell, sell.Mainly what I decided to explore here are teams that have had some semblance of playoff expectations from the start. There are a few exceptions to that, but it's ...
Baseball and basketball are well-known for the many sideline reporters that pepper their broadcasts. Hockey utilizes an ice-level reporter found in-between the benches. And baseball?Well, baseball is getting there. But when ESPN utilizes Erin Andrews as a field reporter during baseball broadcasts, you know there is hope that gorgeous field reporters will soon be gracing baseball games on a more regular basis. So in that spirit, we've compiled 15 of the most beautiful women ever to cover America's Pastime, either on the field or in the studio.Play ball!Begin Slideshow
There’s nothing like waking up in the morning and finding out that a team has lost 40 percent of its starting rotation in one day.
That’s what happened to the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday when they announced that both Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner were heading to the disabled list. Wells has a forearm strain, and Cashner has a rotator cuff strain.
Both pitchers made one start on the season. Wells hurled six innings of one-run ball while striking out six against the Arizona Diamondbacks, and Cashner pitched 5.1 innings of two-hit and one-run baseball against the same Diamondbacks team.
While ...
Just when it seemed like all was well on the north side of Chicago, down go Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner.
Wells has a strained right forearm, which he felt Tuesday, the day after his start; Cashner has a mild strain in the back of his right rotator cuff.
Both pitchers had MRIs that revealed no structural damage in their arms.
While this is good news, they will both likely miss two weeks of action.
Wells and Cashner were both brilliant in their first start of the season. Wells struck out six in over six innings pitched while only serving up a leadoff homer ...
By Friday the Chicago Cubs will have already been downed two starting pitchers; Randy Wells and Andrew Cashner.
Wells has a right forearm strain, while Cashner has a strain in the back of his rotator cuff. After two MRI's, neither player showed any structural damage. Both will be put on the DL by weeks end and are expected to be sidelined nearly a month.
This is a disastrous opening scene to the 2011 Cubs performance, as starting off strong is very important to the team and fan's morale. After the first five games, the Cubs gained their first winning record since they ...
The Cubs pulled off two miraculous comebacks in the first two games against the Diamondbacks.
That wasn't the case in Wednesday's matchup.
As amazing as the comebacks for the Cubbies were, they were still fighting from behind.
In all three games of this series, and pretty much this season so far, the Cubs dug themselves a hole that they then had to climb out of. It skewers the comebacks and creates an illusion.
It creates the illusion that the Cubs are a great "come-from-behind" team when, in reality, they're the same old Cubs.
Starter Ryan Dempster went seven innings, but gave up five runs ...

Many people are hating against the Chicago Cubs. Only three analysts out of 40 picked the Cubs to win the central division. Only three!
The Cubs get no love.
Yes, I understand they are a pretty good bet to lose. I understand they have gone over 100 years without a MLB Championship. That doesn't mean they aren't talented.
The Cubs deserve more love.
Starting Pitching
Don't deny it, the Cubs can pitch. Pitching has never been their fault.
The top three in their starting rotation are one of the best in the National League. Randy Wells is a solid No. 4 and Andrew Cashner has proved ...
Last season, the Cubs struggled all year in one-run ball games.
Today, the Cubs' fortune seemed to be on their side as they sneaked past the Arizona Diamondbacks, 6-5.
Tyler Colvin's two-run home run and three RBI helped the Cubs get their third win on the season.
The Cubs struck first in the second inning when Darwin Barney scored on a Miguel Montero throwing error and Starlin Castro followed with an RBI double to score Koyie Hill.
Andrew Cashner, who was making his pitching debut as a starter, gave up a solo home run to Ryan Roberts for his only blemish in the game.
In ...
What's up with the Cubs?
They're actually on a hot streak and they now are in a position to realistically sweep the Diamondbacks at Wrigley.
Again, it looked as though the Cubbies were going to fumble the game away late, they were able to contain themselves and bag their second straight win.
The Cubs success started, and almost ended, with the quality start Andrew Cashner was putting in until he left midway through the fifth with tightness in his right shoulder.
He appeared to be fine afterwards, but the Cubs are erring on the side of caution regarding his arm.
Then in the seventh, the ...
