Chicago Cubs’ Top Pick Will Miss Summer Ball

Cubs' first round draft pick Hayden Simpson will miss the summer season due to an ongoing battle with mononucleosis, according to scouting director Tim Wilken.
The 16th overall selection out of Southern Arkansas, Simpson went 13-1 with a 1.81 ERA in 99 1/3 innings over his junior season.
You never want to hear about a young player getting sick and having to miss time, but this could be a blessing in disguise for Simpson. He might be able to get some rest and get back into shape for the next season and prove to the Cubs why they drafted him 16th overall.
