Ron Santo’s Entry into Hall of Fame Proves Process Is Flawed

When I was a kid the mere mention of the Major League Baseball Hall of Fame inspired images of the greats that once played the game.  

It conjured up visions of an exclusive club. A shrine, whose rare members appeared larger than life, and were the elite amongst their peers. It was to forever be a touchstone for us to honor men that were so synonymous with greatness on the diamond. They were easily known simply by their last name.

Men such as Ruth, Gehrig, DiMaggio, Williams, Cobb, and a few others cut from a similar cloth of excellence.
