With the activation of third baseman Aramis Ramirez and outfielder Reed Johnson from the disabled list, two-game leadoff "star" Sam Fuld was returned to Iowa on Monday.
Sorry Sammy, but MLB is a tough, heartless business my friend.
Sure I know that in the two games you started at leadoff in place of $18 million dollar Alfonso Soriano, you went 4-for-8 and threw out a runner trying to score.
But hey, that wasn't good enough.
Look, your sample size just wasn't large enough, though you did impress manager Lou Piniella.
"...you know, we're obviously pleased with the two games. He's done well."
To his credit, Sam seemed to understand his role.
