The Chicago Cubs have found an answer for their pitching needs, acquiring right-hander Dan Haren from the Miami Marlins on Friday.
Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald first reported Haren was being traded to Chicago. The Cubs later confirmed the move.
Spencer added the Marlins will receive minor leaguers Elliott Soto and Ivan Pineyro in the deal.
Soto is a 25-year-old shortstop in Double-A, hitting .275/.388/.314. Pineyro is a 23-year-old right-handed pitcher also in Double-A with a 3.69 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 107.1 innings.

After 12 days in Triple-A, Kris Bryant made his much-anticipated debut for the Chicago Cubs on Friday. The No. 2 overall pick in the 2013 draft hit cleanup against the San Diego Padres but didn't fare well in his role with the bat, going 0-for-4 with three strikeouts.

According to Fred Mitchell of the Chicago Tribune, Banks' wife Liz confirmed the news of her husband's passing.
"Ernie Banks, one of baseball’s most ebullient and optimistic ambassadors, died Friday, his wife, Liz, confirmed," Mitchell wrote.
