As the 2013 MLB trade deadline approaches, the rumors that the Chicago Cubs would consider dealing starting pitcher Jeff Samardzija are flying, but the organization should not make that deal.
Despite having the talent to be a player the franchise builds around as a No. 2 or No. 3 in a dangerous rotation, the Cubs are still listening to offers, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports:
No matter how high the asking price is, it wouldn’t equal the value that Samardzija holds as a five-year veteran who is truly starting to understand the game of baseball from a pitching perspective.
