Derrek Lee Vs. Andrian Gonzalez: Who Deserves It More?

July 10, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The 2009 NL All-Star team is pretty stacked. Just one person is missing: Derrek Lee. The first basemen for the National League include Albert Pujols, Prince Fielder, and Adrian Gonzalez. Don't get me wrong. All these guys are awesome. Especially Albert Pujols. But I think Derrek Lee deserves it, especially over Andrian Gonzalez. Derrek Lee is batting .279 with 16 home runs and 53 RBI. More RBI then Adrian Gonzalez (52). His .279 batting average is higher than Adrian Gonzalez's (.256). All three hitters have more home runs then Lee, but since when is home runs the deciding factor in who makes the all-star team? Advantage: ...

A Case For The Rookie of The Year: Randy Wells

July 9, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

The 26-year-old stud, Randy Wells, is definitely someone in the running for the Rookie of the Year. He has been nothing short of dominant this year for the Cubs. Wells, with his second team, has looked absolutely amazing this year for the Cubs. Wells, who has been lacking run support, is 4-3 with a 2.48 ERA. His record doesn't reflect how well he has pitched for the Cubs. No pitchers in the NL are anywhere near Randy Wells. Compare the following pitchers to Wells's stats. Kenshin Kawakami, 34, is 5-6 with a 4.26 ERA for the Atlanta Braves. Tommy Hanson is the only one ...

With the Cardinals coming to town this weekend, who knows what to expect. This series is always a fun one. What a way to send both teams to the all star break. Both teams are getting set for a four game series that will be played in three days with first place up for grabs. Game One Game one is set for Saturday (7/11) at 1:20pm CT. Set to start for the Cubs is Rich Harden (5-5 5.35 ERA) and for the Cardinals is Brad Thompson (2-5 4.92 ERA). Pitching Advantage has to go to the Cubs in game one. Yes, Harden hasn't been very ...

B.J. Ryan: A Future Chicago Cub?

July 9, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

With the Blue Jays' release of the two-time All-Star closer, the question looms... Where will B.J. Ryan end up? Ryan has struggled a bit this year, but he will definitely be a steal for whoever picks him up. Look to the stats. He has had over 30 saves three times in his career. He has a career 3.37 ERA and 112 saves. Ryan has battled a left shoulder injury this year and definitely struggled for the Jays. He is 1-1 with a 6.53 ERA and only two saves in 20 2/3 innings. The Jays are reportedly say that they will eat the rest of ...

Chicago Cubs: Living on a Prayer

July 8, 2009 by · Leave a Comment

Speaking as a Cubs fan, it is amazing to me that this team is only three games behind St. Louis in the NL Central standings. Among all their problems, the two-time defending division champs are still in the hunt for the division crown.   The Outfield The outfield (Alfonso Soriano, Kosuke Fukudome, and Milton Bradley) combine to earn more than $33 million. Their individual stats just make a Cubs fan sick to his stomach. For how much they're are making, the outfield has definitely been the Achilles heel of his team. Bradley's stats, halfway through the season, make me ill. He's only batting .241 and has ...
