My first thought when looking at the Cubs' current roster is that they need better starting pitching and middle relief. Fortunately for them they have a wealth of it in the minors with some impressive arms that have had statistical success. Chris Archer is absolutely filthy in high A ball down in Peoria this year. He could figure in to next season's rotation, and is sure to be promoted either to the big club in September, or double, or Triple-A Iowa replacing a call-up. Rafael Dolis was a kid who was already considered this last camp for ...
It's being reported by ESPN Deportes that the Chicago Cubs have called up top prospect short stop Starlin Castro. I heard the Score just report this on the Danny Mac show.
If it does get confirmed as truth it is a very odd move as current shortstop Ryan Theriot is playing well, and the fact he's not here already was widely believed to save his service time. There's only about three weeks left till his service time eligibility isn't a factor. Stay tuned.Read more Chicago Cubs news on BleacherReport.com
On a day that has Michael McCaskey retiring and getting replaced by his younger brother George, and the day after the Bears schedule is released, the Blackhawks lose to the seventh-seed Nashville Predators, and LeBron James gushes about how awesome Chicago is, we have news that trumps all those stories.

Sullivan says there's more to come, so when the details roll in I'll be chiming in on this (and ...
All of us who saw the game know how well Alfonso Soriano played in the outfield today. So does Uncle Lou, apparently; In his post game comments to the press he said, "Obviously if we're not scoring runs we'll have to put our best defense out there, that's for sure." Get ready for the possibility of a heavy dose of Tyler Colvin, and/or Xavier Nady in the days ahead. That's if it's not just Lou's frustration talking, although he didn't appear to be angry when he said it. Soriano's defense? It's self explanatory. This guy's ...
Starting tonight in Cincinnati the Cubs begin a stretch of 29 consecutive games against teams that were under .500 last season. A lovely little fact that was brought to my attention by csnchicago.com . If the Cubs can feast on these guys it could be enough to catapult the Cubs into the postseason race till the very end of the season. Confidence is an amazing motivator. Of course, some of these teams may have improved like our next opponent the Reds for example. Many people actually have them picked over the Cubs. ...
